Product Description
Made in Japan
Operating principle: Gas powered bolt-action
Ammunition: 6mm BB
The Mauser Karabiner 98k was the backbone of the German Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS during World War II. It was a battle-tested rifle that could not be fully replaced at any stage of the war, despite the newfound status of machine pistols, experiments with semiautomatic rifles and the introduction of world’s first assault rifle (MP44). Millions were manufactured in Germany, other Axis countries and occupied territories by the end of the war.
Tanaka's Kar 98k is widely-regarded as the best airsoft Kar 98k there is, thanks to its heavy-duty (almost model-gun-like) exterior finish and high muzzle velocity of 430 feet per second. The materials used are almost exclusively genuine wood and metal parts. The stock furniture is especially high-grade and makes the rifle suited even for propping or display purposes.
Tanaka’s background as a model gun manufacturer can be seen in the detail it has put into manufacturing markings of World War II. In Tanaka’s Kar 98k airsoft version, there are many German WWII-era production markings across the whole rifle, as you can see from our image gallery.
The magazine works differently from the one in Marushin’s Kar 98k, as there is a detachable magazine that is released with a release catch (located in the trigger guard just behind the trigger). A gas tank is located inside the magazine. This features an adjustable hop up and sights.
The Tanaka Kar 98k is great for gaming purposes, due to its advantageous shooting performance, and it is a strong favorite among airsoft WWII fans.
